Janus Cultural Centre

Factory outlet for wonderful fashion in wool

The Janus Kultursenter factory outlet is situated in Espeland, just south-east of Bergen. The shop has an impressive range of underwear, dresses, jackets, trousers, hats and socks, for the entire family.

The clothes are made from the finest wool, produced in our modern factory right next door. Janus is one of the largest and oldest knitwear factories in Europe. The outlet is actually located in the original factory which was built of wood. The building dates back to 1895 and has an idyllic, natural location right on the banks of the river. A visit to our factory outlet is like a trip back in time - the walls are imbued with the true spirit of Norway's textile history. As you stroll around the shop, you can see large-scale photographs displaying more than a century of industrial history. You can also experience the old machines and equipment used back in the days when the factory was run using the power of water from the river. The actual cultural centre, Janus Kultursenter, is housed on the first floor of this beautiful old wooden factory, as a combined factory outlet, historical exhibition and great setting for concerts.
