Merino wool – nature’s own high-tech material

Merino wool is more than a textile. It is nature’s own invention – developed to protect the sheep in extreme conditions, and refined through generations of craftsmanship.

Why merino wool? – The unique properties

Our history with wool – Knitted in Norway since 1895

For over 130 years, we at Janus have developed and refined wool garments in our factory at the foot of Gullfjellet in Bergen. With water power from the river and generations of expertise, we have learned to master the qualities of wool. Merino wool is the heart of our production – because we know that this material provides the best combination of warmth, comfort and durability.

From nature to product – Merino wool in our collections

We use merino wool in everything from technical baselayers to classic sweaters. Whether you are climbing mountain peaks, playing outside with your children or looking for comfort in everyday life, you will find a Janus garment in merino wool that is made for you.

Future and innovation – Tradition meets new technology

Even though we have a long history, we never stop developing. With new technology and our own innovations like the upcoming Janus AirWool collection, we continue the legacy of merino wool in a way that delivers even better performance – lighter, warmer and more durable.
