NORSE MERINO

Perfect for the Norwegian outdoor life

There is wool underwear that keeps you warm. And then there is wool underwear that is developed for people who cannot afford to have anything fail. When you look at Norse Merino, you are not just seeing a garment. You are seeing the result of requirements, tests and field use that you never experience in everyday life. Garments that are assessed on everything from seam pressure to lifespan. Garments that will work in the Norwegian climate – all the way down to minus forty degrees.

Out there, when everything is about keeping warm, breathing, moving and standing in whatever comes, there are no shortcuts. And that is precisely why this collection was created.

Norse Merino is made to be used

Norse Merino is developed on the same principles of the wool baselayers used by the Norwegian Armed Forces today:
comfort, performance and durability under high levels of activity.

Technically, the requirements are brutal. The garments must function in everything from movement, bivouac, combat training, and long sessions with a backpack and equipment. They must withstand heat generation, cold, moisture and friction.
They must be used all year round – from coastal climates with high humidity to polar climates in the mountains.

They must simply be “problem-free”.

We chose the same philosophy when we developed Norse Merino for the civilian market.

Three technologies. One purpose.

Keeping you warm, dry and comfortable when conditions change.

  • Wool terry – for warmth and durability. The loop construction provides high insulation, even warmth and natural breathability. Perfect when the intensity drops or the weather turns cold and harsh.
  • Mesh – for maximum ventilation and moisture transport. The open structure next to the skin creates an effective air layer that wicks away moisture during high activity, making layering easier and more functional.
  • Double Wool – for smart regulation in changing conditions. Mesh on the inside transports moisture, while smooth merino wool on the outside provides warmth and temperature control. A construction that combines dryness, insulation and freedom of movement in one garment.
  • Strategic details like elastic ribs, flat seams and panels that reduce friction against the pack, hip belt and equipment make every part of the garment functional in practice – not just on paper.

This is not about “fashion”.
It is about physiology, heat balance and function under real conditions.

What does that mean to you?

When a garment is designed to perform in extreme conditions, you get three clear benefits:

Stable warmth – even when the weather changes quickly.
Better comfort – fewer pressure points, less irritation, no unnecessary seams.
Longer life – tested to withstand at least 12 months of daily use, including 20 washes at 60°C and tumble drying.

This is not wool that needs to be treated with care.
This is wool that can be used.

The Norwegian climate sets high demands

That's why you have to dress for the conditions.

From humid coastal weather to biting mountain cold - the combination of cold, wind and high humidity takes more toll on the body than you think.
Merino wool makes this easier, but Norse Merino makes it safer.
You get warmth when you stand still.
You get air when you increase the intensity.
You get regulation without thinking.

And you get the security of knowing that the garment was developed for far tougher conditions than yours.
