Janus Wool Awarded Major Multi-Year Contract to Supply Merino Wool Base Layers to Forsvarsmateriell, purveyor to the Norwegian Armed Forces

Janus Wool is proud to announce that it has been awarded the contract for Lot 1 – wool terry and mesh base-layer garments under the Norwegian Armed Forces’ strategic procurement of wool clothing. The award was formally issued by Forsvarsmateriell (the Norwegian Defence Material Agency) following a competitive limited tender procedure.

The agreement represents one of the largest textile supply contracts of its kind in Norway, with a maximum framework value of NOK 1.161 billion and an estimated contract value of NOK 391 million. The contract period runs from 28 October 2025 to 28 April 2028, with the possibility of two additional one-year extensions.

The tender saw strong interest from the Nordic textile industry, with eleven companies participating in the pre-qualification phase and four companies qualifying for the final round consisting of extensive field testing. Janus Wool  achieved first place in the overall ranking, ahead of other suppliers including Aclima AS, Nomade Collection AB and Equipnor AS.
